Myself and my boyfriend are Irish citizens. We are living in Malaga province and working in Gibraltar. This means that we cannot send our passports anywhere for visas as we need them every day to get to work.

I have been to Russia twice and also to Belarus many times as I lived there for a year. My boyfriend has never been and we would like to go on a holiday this year, maybe in September.

The plan was to fly to Tampere from Malaga, go down to Helsinki, to Tallinn and then on to St Petersburg. In Moscow we would get a transit visa for Belarus (at least I believe this should still be ok), stop in Minsk on the way to Lithuania/Poland, I still haven't figured out how we would get back to Malaga.

So the question is, where can we get a visa with the minimum fuss and maximum speed.

From the Spanish website, I can't see if we can get a same day visa. If we can, we could go to Madrid for a long weekend and get the visa on a Monday.

From some information I have read here as an Irish citizen I could not apply for a visa in Helsinki. But as a resident of Spain, would this be different?

And Tallinn? In some places I have read that I would have to wait a week. I like Tallinn, but would only plan on spending max 2 days there.

Then there's the embassy in Dublin. Last time I got my visa there as a same day visa, but I read also that they don't officially give these any more. And most of my trips home are Friday to Monday, so no time really for that.

I'll ask in the official places, but would be interested to hear what people would think would be best.

Ireland is a part of EU. So you can apply for your visa in any EU country. You could do that as well when you're in Helsinki, so you don't need to go to Spain and get a transit Belarus visa also there or in Moscow.
