Hello everyone, I'll try my best to keep this short and on topic.

I am eager to travel to some of the best of the Golden Ring of Moscow. Suzdal has came up on the list of course! From Suzdal, I want to carry on to Yaroslavl, mainly to see Rostov Veliky which I know isn't far away at all. I wanted to include Kostroma as well, but I don't know if this is practical.

I was wondering if anyone might be good enough to tell me how I can get from Suzdal to Yaroslavl by bus. If so, what is the station called? I am aware that travelling by train between these two is not an option here. Is it possible to take a train back to Moscow from Rostov Veliky?

Very confused, would appreciate any help! This is very daunting but I'm determined to make it work. Thanks!

According to:

http://virtvladimir.ru/page/bus8/

buses leave from Suzdal to Yaroslavl at 8:05 AM and 5:20 PM. I don't know how long that trip takes, but my guess is perhaps 4 to 6 hours.

To answer your rail question, yes you can go from Rostov to Moscow by train. According to http://www.tutu.ru, there are several trains each day, with the cheap (platskartnii) tickets in the $20 to $40 range. Most of the trains make the trip in about 3 and half hours, but at least one of them takes almost 5.

tutu.ru is a terrifically useful site, if you can manage some Russian.

The only Golden Ring town I've yet visited it Vladimir. In case you are interested, it is a pleasant little town. Its bus and train stations are in the same place (quite convenient). If you walk up the hill from the station, and from there west along the main road, you can see several beautiful old churches and other historic buildings - it is a nice way to pass a couple of hours. If you wanted to start your tour there (and Vladimir is pretty easy to reach from Moscow), you could then catch a bus to Suzdal -- the ride is probably an hour or so, and the buses leave every half hour from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM (there are also earlier and later buses at longer intervals, the last bus to Suzdal leaves at 9:40 PM).

You have an enjoyable tour to look forward to, best of luck!

PS Among the bus and rail employees, expect to find no English language. So it is very helpful, if you can speak at least a little Russian. But even if you don't speak it, I strongly recommend learning the Cyrillic alphabet -- this will make all the difference! Among the passengers, you can usually find a helpful soul who speaks at least a little English.

Hello,

I can help you. Do you want to travel with me by car? For example first day we can visit Vladimir, Suzdal and Kostroma. Then stay for night in Yaroslavl in hotel. Next day visit Yaroslavl and Rostov Velikii and Plesheevo lake.

I should share my expenses (fuel etc). I think, it wont be expensive.

Regards, Alex
