What are some popular Russian games? I need it for a school assignment. Also what are some simple (aka quick) Russian drinking games? I'm going to do a Russian drinking game, obviously not with alcohol with water.

Thanks

Hi there. My name is Max, I live in Murmansk.
In facts, there are no any original, traditional Russian games, which are popular in present days: all of them are displaced by soccer (the most popular), basketball, volleyball, etc.
Children plays hide'n'seek, blind-man's-buff (translated by Google translator) and other games, which are general (I think) for all world's children.
If you want to know about traditional national games, try to find info about лапта (lapta, something similar to baseball), "казаки-разбойники" (may be translated like "cossacks and bandits"),.. Sorry, can't remember any more :)
Also, by the influence of Western and Japanese cultures, children plays, imagining that they are Spiderman, Ninjas and other "heroes" - like in any other country, I think.

What about drinking games: well, I'm 33 yrs old and I've never heard about some drinking game in Russia: when we want to drink - we drink, not doing a game of it :)

I was kinda wondering this myself. I'm 30 and have been into games and gaming since I was 5 when the first Nintendo came out in the US. I did a little research and was really upset to find out that Pokemon wasn't very big at all in Russia! What kind of video games are there?

I would also be interested if they have any special social games, like when you travel by train, what can you do.
