I was wondering what the typical Russian thinks about our military.

Why can't you give a reasonable and decent answer? I too am interested in answers to this question as it may apply to other americans as well. Are there any articulate Russian people with decent manners (besides Alice... and she's a mod) on this post? Some of us come here looking for information, not abuse. Please help us out here, ok? I quite like the US military tradition, the honours system, the training, all that stuff they show you in the movies A few friends of mine (Russians) graduated from Kings Point (US Merchant Marine Academy) so I have first-hand stories about the US military training and customs. I also like the uniform I will omit the topic of the US military policy, it is too big to discuss here. I'll just say that I was one of 1 million people who demonstrated in London against the Iraq invasion. Another thing worth mentioning I suppose is the attitude to the WWII involvement. Whilst I came to realise the contribution the Allied forces made in defeating fascism, it saddens me a great deal that many Americans dtill believe that only the US should be credited for the victory. But I guess it's not so much to do with the military itslef, as with the way history is taught in American schools
