Apartments in Russia are often very small (one room and a kitchen). So maybe no place for visitors, but you can always ask.

Your good friend can ask about it at "Katya". It will be more pertinent
_________________
I like the Formula 1

Here's my situation: I hope to visit Russia next year; one of my good friends used to date a girl from Russia (let's call her "Katya"), and gave me her contact info (they are still on good terms). I have never met her in person, so I have a question: in Russian culture, would it be rude if I asked her if I could stay at her place, or at relatives place? I would offer to pay of course, and bring a gift if she lets me stay.
Большое спасибо
