Ivan Krylov Writer

Ivan Andreyevich Krylov (born in February 13, 1769 - died in November 21, 1844) was the most famous fabulist in Russia. He wasn’t the first who started to write it there, and many of his earlier fables were loosely based on Aesop and Jean de La Fontaine, later fables were original work.

He is considered to be the founder of Russian fable tradition, although he also translated much of Rable fables. Fables of Krylov aren’t just the stories about birds and beasts, he was writing about simple rules of the life. His stories were quite popular. An educated Russian of 19th century could tell you by heart a dozen of his fables.
