Hotels
The hotels
were personally checked by WayToRussia.Net team in August 2001.
The prices are in $ US.
KORVET BOAT-HOTEL.
The
small single rooms cost from 100 to 200 roubles ($3.5-$7). A small
double room costs 350 roubles ($12) for two people. Inside there's
a simple bed, a sink, clean sheets, a desk, a chair,
and a cupboard.
The common toilets are downstairs. If you want to have a shower,
the receptionists can let you in the room-apartment with a bathroom,
if nobody is staying there.
Otherwise there's no shower.
A two-bedroom apartment with two double beds, a kitchen, a private
bathroom and a toilet costs 400 roubles ($13.5) for the whole apartment.
Four people can easily stay there (for the same price).
As the hotel is installed in a former pier, some of the rooms have
a view on the river. The prices are the same for foreigners and
for Russians.
Description. Because it's installed in a boat on the
river Volga, you first have to cross a little wooden bridge to enter
the hotel from the riverbank. On the basement, there's a kind of
wooden tavern, where you can have a dinner, or party with the big
fat Dagestani men, also staying in the hotel sometimes, because
it's close to the market nearby. For its low prices the hotel is
popular mostly with Russian tourists.
The smelly common toilets are next to the tavern. Up the steep wooden
stairs, along a narrow corridor you'll find the room of the friendly
receptionist and the other different rooms.
Location.
This hotel is located in the center of Kostoma, on the
embankment of Volga river. It's within 10 minutes walking to the
centrum (the Trading arcades), and within 15 minutes by trolley
and 10 minutes walking from the railway station.
WayToRussia.Net advice: The cheapest and a special place
to stay while in Kostroma, but it's a bit dusty. You won't be able
to reserve a room there, you can just come by and check - usually
they have rooms even in summer.
Address: #90,
Nizhnie Debri (?????? ?????) ul. From the Trading
arcades (Susanina square) in the centrum, walk down to Volga river
embankment and turn right. Walk along the embankment about 2 minutes.
Contacts: No phone, no fax, no email.
MUSH HOTEL-GUESTHOUSE.
You can rent one of their cosy luxury double rooms for 1 hour for
$5 US. If you want a double for 24 hours it will cost $40 to $50
US. But you can also rent the same double for 12 hours (from 21
to 9) for $23 US for two people, and for $30 US for three people
(they'll put an additional bed in the double). Reservations are
free 10 days before checking in, and it's better to reserve as early
as possible.
There are four double rooms. Inside each room, there is a very comfy
double bed, wooden furniture, carpets, nice lamps, a tv with more
than 50 satellite channels, a phone. The rooms are very neat and
clean and offer different atmospheres: deep dark red bed linen give
the perfect ambience for a 'hot' night whereas the bright cosy bedroom
is ideal for an afternoon rest. A clean shared bathroom (for two
rooms) with a bath, a shower, a bidet, a toilet is on every floor.
The breakfast is comprised with the price, there are eight different
menus for every taste. You can use the kitchen downstairs for free,
to cook your own meals.
Description.
Mush guesthouse is located right next to the historical city
center on Sovetskaya street. The big black traditional building
houses also an armenian wine shop and a bar-pizzeria. The entrance
of the hotel is from the inside courtyard. When you push the door
it feels cosy and smells like a western place because of its new
furniture and carpets. Downstairs there is a kitchen with a fridge
full of nice fresh things and a large dining room with a tv. The
rooms are on the two upper floors.
The receptionist is very kind and helpful, but she doesn't speak
much english. The guesthouse can also organise a tour around Kostroma,
and buy train and airline tickets for you through their partner
agency, but it will be a bit expensive.
There's a free parking for guests downstairs.
WayToRussia.Net
